"I don't sing because I'm happy, I'm happy because I sing." William James.

RESEARCH:

Don Campbell, author of 'The Mozart Effect' found that early learning occurs primarily through MOVEMENT.

The 'No Child Left Behind' Act of 2002 states that 'Studying Music encourages self- discipline and diligence traits that carry over into mathematics, science, foreign languages, civics and government, economics, arts, history and geography'.

According to a 1997 article in Neurological Research, Music helps prepare the mind for specific disciplines of learning; skills leaned through music carry over into study skills, communications skills, cognitive skills and abstract reasoning skills USEFUL TO ALL PARTS OF LIFE.

Findings from a study conducted by three researchers at Sam Houston State University show that parental time spent with children is a significant factor in the development of intelligence.

Now in the UK the government are back on board with providing funding and opportunities for Early Years Music and encouraging making music as a famiLy in the home. As a Kindermusik Educator I am convinced that regular MUSIC MAKING IN THE HOME creates better lives for all involved.

Hope we get to make music with you :)

WHY KINDERMUSIK?

To watch a video clip click here - Kindermusik video

It has been Kindermusik's goal since 1993, when it became an international enterprise, to provide young children and their families across the globe with the highest quality musical learning experience.

Carefully constructed, Kindermusik maximises the benefits music has, as a subject, on every area of learning; emotional, social, physical, cognitive and language development through it's unique combination of class activities and resources and musical materials for use of inbetween. (See 'At Home Materials' for more info.)

Kindermusik involves parents, who, as they themselves understand and delight in the wonders of Kindermusik, continue the experience with their child in the home.

With extensive knowledge of current child developmental research and the production of the highest quality At Home Materials and Classroom Resources, Kindermusik is an experience not to be missed! Kindermusik International calls the experience a 'miracle'. This is not a miracle that comes from outside human capacity but rather from within as the parent / carer and child make music together as a daily part of life.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM EACH CLASS

Each class will have a carefully planned programme of activities devised with expert knowledge of your child's needs and capabilities for his / her age.

Kindermusik is not performance based and believes in a learning environment of exploration and discovery. There is lots of freedom and opportunity for your child to learn at their own pace in a safe and engaging setting.

Kindermusik is emphatic on the child's parent / carer being the best teacher for the child, the educator being there to facilitate and provide you and your child with all you need for successful learning.

Each class is accompanied by a set of high quality materials for you and your child to take home so that you can continue the magical music experience every day of the week. The home materials are essential to the success and value of the kindermusik programme as kindermusik believes the home is the best environment for learning.

The educator will let you know the reasons behind the activities thereby educating you as the parent / carer. You will get to understand what is happening to your child inside right from the moment they are born. No longer will you play 'round and round the garden' or sing to your child just because you know someone somewhere said it might be good for your child...you will know the reasons yourself!!!.
