"I don't sing because I'm happy, I'm happy because I sing." William James.

RESEARCH:

Don Campbell, author of 'The Mozart Effect' found that early learning occurs primarily through MOVEMENT.

The 'No Child Left Behind' Act of 2002 states that 'Studying Music encourages self- discipline and diligence traits that carry over into mathematics, science, foreign languages, civics and government, economics, arts, history and geography'.

According to a 1997 article in Neurological Research, Music helps prepare the mind for specific disciplines of learning; skills leaned through music carry over into study skills, communications skills, cognitive skills and abstract reasoning skills USEFUL TO ALL PARTS OF LIFE.

Findings from a study conducted by three researchers at Sam Houston State University show that parental time spent with children is a significant factor in the development of intelligence.

Now in the UK the government are back on board with providing funding and opportunities for Early Years Music and encouraging making music as a famiLy in the home. As a Kindermusik Educator I am convinced that regular MUSIC MAKING IN THE HOME creates better lives for all involved.

Hope we get to make music with you :)

At Home Materials

Enjoy the Journey All Week Long

Kindermusik is much more than a weekly class. Your At Home materials, you receive from your educator, will provide you with all the tools for music making as a family throughout the week. While the seeds of learning are planted in class, your use of the At Home materials will cultivate true life-long learning. Just as the young pianist doesn't go away from his lesson only to wait until the next one - of course not, he would never make progress, so Kindermusik does not expect your child to benefit completely just from the weekly class...s/he needs to take it home with her / him.

Some music classes use a doll or a puppet to relate to, other groups turn their educators into entertainers or 'follow my leader' types but at Kindermusik, family involvement in your child’s learning, is a fundamental cornerstone of the Kindermusik philosophy. This is because the parent or primary carer is the child’s most important teacher and the home is the most important place for a child’s learning to take root and grow. After all, there’s no better way to nurture your child’s development – and you’ll love doing it together – every day!
