"I don't sing because I'm happy, I'm happy because I sing." William James.

RESEARCH:

Don Campbell, author of 'The Mozart Effect' found that early learning occurs primarily through MOVEMENT.

The 'No Child Left Behind' Act of 2002 states that 'Studying Music encourages self- discipline and diligence traits that carry over into mathematics, science, foreign languages, civics and government, economics, arts, history and geography'.

According to a 1997 article in Neurological Research, Music helps prepare the mind for specific disciplines of learning; skills leaned through music carry over into study skills, communications skills, cognitive skills and abstract reasoning skills USEFUL TO ALL PARTS OF LIFE.

Findings from a study conducted by three researchers at Sam Houston State University show that parental time spent with children is a significant factor in the development of intelligence.

Now in the UK the government are back on board with providing funding and opportunities for Early Years Music and encouraging making music as a famiLy in the home. As a Kindermusik Educator I am convinced that regular MUSIC MAKING IN THE HOME creates better lives for all involved.

Hope we get to make music with you :)

We provide the following services:

*Regular Music Classes:

We can manage your music curriculum by coming in weekly and providing ideas and resources to equip your setting musically. We can also come regularly but a little less often (e.g 2 x 1/2 term) to enhance your existing curriuclum with music providing sessions that fit your current topics.

*Occassional Music:

Music is a great part of celebrations - anniversaries, launching new nurseries or projects, end of term/year, Christmas. We can provide general workshops and fun parties to give your event a musical boost.

* Musical Direction for concerts / plays:

We can supply suggestions for KS1 and KS2 plays, assist or take control of the musical direction. We can also assist with the drama.

*Inset training for staff:

Would you like to feel more confident? Receive new ideas and Resources? Why not book a 60-90 minute workshop which will be practically based.

*Music Teaching Packs:

We desire staff to be equipped to engage creatively in music with their children on a daily basis and so offer packs that contain hello/ goodbye songs, themed songs, poems and rhymes and ways of making music and exploring sounds.Themes include Transport, The Weather and Animals plus more. These packs can be tailor made to suit so please ask.

*Training opportunities for pre-school staff to become Early Years' Music Practioners in their own Early Years' Settings:

Along with our Teaching Packs we offer workshops for Early Years Practitioners who possess an interest in learning more about music.

*Advice on delivering a curriculum through music:

We believe that music is a very powerful tool for learning and a great medium to teach other curriculum subjects. We can look at your curriculum and provide ideas and suggestions as to where and how music can fit in.

If any of the above interest you then please do not hesitate to contact the school.
